Hello world!
My name is Jason and I run a small computer repair business in Sydney, Australia, doing hardware and software repairs for home and small business computer users. I’ve been in the IT industry for 20 years, doing mostly one-on-one computer support. I service a fairly large geographic area within the inner suburbs of Sydney, but see a wide range of IT situations.
This blog will be about real-world computer and technology issues. Based on my experiences with clients, these are my opinions on what it’s really like “out there” in the real IT world. I’ll try to give insights into the current state of the home and small business computer industry, that you may not find in a computer magazine or on the general internet. There’s no substitute for experience and the last year or so, I’ve really been out and about with home and business users.
In my experience, issues come and go in particular waves and I’ll discuss some current trends that are happening, and what you should be doing (or not doing!) as a home or small business computer user to ensure that your technology works properly.
It’s terrible to lose information or even just not have a working computer when you need it. Technology gets more complex every year and we place more and more of our trust in our machines to manage our lives. As such, it’s important to make sure we do everything we can to help make sure they don’t let us down.
Welcome to the world of technology for real people.
